Immigration Psychological Evaluations
Evaluations are conducted virtually in a secure and respectful manner. Each assessment is approached with care and professionalism, recognizing its significance in immigration cases.
What Are Immigration Evaluations?
These are mental health assessments conducted for immigration cases such as Hardship Waivers, Asylum, VAWA, U Visas, and T Visas. An immigration attorney may recommend an evaluation to include clinical insight and personal history as part of the legal process. These assessments help document psychological factors that may be relevant to the case. The purpose of the evaluation is to provide a neutral, professional report that offers context regarding an individual’s mental and emotional functioning.
Types of Evaluations
-
Evaluations for hardship waivers (I-601 / I-601A) and cancellation of removal help document the emotional or psychological impact that a family member would experience if separated from the applicant or required to relocate.
-
An evaluation can help document the emotional and mental health impact of past harm or fear of returning to your country of origin. It may address experiences related to persecution based on factors such as political opinion, religion, ethnicity, or gender identity. If there was a delay in applying for asylum, the evaluation may also provide clinical context for that timeline.
-
If you have experienced emotional, physical, or psychological abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse or family member, a VAWA evaluation helps document the impact of that mistreatment on your mental health. The process is approached with sensitivity and professionalism, recognizing the difficulty of sharing painful experiences.
-
If you’ve been the victim of a serious crime and cooperated with law enforcement, a U Visa evaluation documents the impact of that crime on your mental and emotional health.
-
This evaluation reviews the emotional and mental effects of being a victim of human trafficking, including labor and sex trafficking.
How It Works
Initial Contact and Scheduling
Reach out to schedule your virtual session via Zoom at a convenient time. We’ll confirm the appointment details and prepare for the evaluation.
Evaluation Sessions
The evaluation takes place virtually over two sessions, each lasting 1 to 2 hours. We’ll discuss your experiences through a respectful clinical interview, and I may include brief questionnaires to assess symptoms like anxiety, depression, or trauma. These tools help provide a clear, clinically informed picture relevant to your immigration case
Report Preparation
Following the sessions, I’ll prepare a comprehensive evaluation report based on the information gathered. Reports are typically ready within 14 business days.

While I cannot promise specific results or outcomes, evaluations offer a supportive, professional way to share your story. These reports are often used to highlight psychological experiences that provide helpful context for your immigration case.

No. I only provide the immigration evaluation, not ongoing therapy or treatment. This avoids a dual relationship and keeps me in compliance with the ethical guidelines of the American Psychological Association. If you’d like support afterward, I can offer a referral list—this is completely optional and separate from the evaluation process.
